Established in 2020, Abot Kaalaman sa Pamilyang Bangsamoro (AKAP) Program is a program of the Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) in the Philippines. The program aims to provide contextualized K to 3 education access to underserved barangays (communities) in the Bangsamoro region.
The agency was tasked to create the AKAP Program's logo and some IEC materials communicating who they are, what they do, and how they help their target audience. The AKAP logo needed a unique identity of its own while also making sure the look and feel is aligned with the Ministry's brand.
I was once again fortunate to work with MBHTE for this project. Having done MBHTE's logo and brand guidelines previously, my main challenge was making sure the AKAP Program's logo stood and did not look like the typical government program.
The end result is a modern and soft logo to make it feel more approachable for its target audience. The colors were loosely based on MBHTE's palette to create a sense of familiarity being one of the Ministry's flagship programs. The hand icon on the logo encompasses what the AKAP Program does and who its main beneficiaries are. This clear distinction was something both us and the client agreed on as we refined one of the studies in order to set the program apart from the many existing national education programs.
